Cover your plants! Im a bit annoyed with this storm. What’s wrong with just a good rain? Is that too much to ask? But lows in the 20’s why?!?!?!

So I’ve hauled most everything back inside. We’ll cover the dahlias and the veggies. I’m going to take an extra layer of caution and take more cuttings just in case because late is better than never.

Not sure how? Use a 5 gal bucket or whatever you’ve got to trap the heat in and secure it with a brick or a rock because it will prob be windy. Don’t do it too early because you don’t want to scorch your plants. And good luck!!

A whole lot of dahlias (100’s) made their way in

A whole lot of dahlias (100’s) made their way into the ground this past week. I’ve got about 120 more to plant but feeling a BIG sense of accomplishment/relief having knocked that out. I’m also excited. I’ve got over 40 KA’s Mocha Maya and other jaw dropping varieties from @santacruzdahlias as well as some new @coseytownflowers and FINALLY Irish D. Porter.

Now the real fun begins. The clean up. After months of dedicating my basement to cloning plants, I can now have my laundry room back. Hooray!!!

Colorado!!! Who is growing dahlias this year?

Well my local dahlia loving friends, it looks as though I’ll have extra starts this year. For sure some Cafe Au Laits, Camano Zoe, and mini Cafe Au Lait. (all pictured here) I’ll have a better idea of other varieties as I get through my planting. If you’re a NOCO-er and are interested in buying a few, send me a message! Please note these are starts, not tubers! (But they’ll produce tubers!)

Rare color form and smells incredible. These are my fav. Plus my red plant put on tons of growth last year but didn’t bloom so this is such a treat.

I hope I can emulate this little plant. Be Unique, grow upward, and smell good! 🤣🤣🤣
